The Davis Dynasty

Fifty Years of Successful Investing on Wall Street

This book helped me truly understand a lesson often associated with Warren Buffett: you can only get rich slowly.

It changed how I think about wealth. In my own stock investing, I now follow a simple discipline: I buy broad-market ETFs rather than individual stocks, and I intend to hold them for the long term. For me, wealth is not something to chase through sudden bets. It is a foundation built patiently, through time, discipline, and compounding.

Looking back, neither my school nor my family gave me a practical education in personal finance. For many years, I did not have a complete framework for saving, investing, risk, and long-term wealth. I hope to offer my daughters the guidance I once lacked, so they can establish their own financial foundations and, in time, gain the freedom to make important life choices on their own terms.
